East Hampstead, NH, March 2, 2011: Owner and Potter, Donna Van Houten Rollins of Healing Touch Pottery was recently nominated for the Self Made in New Hampshire Award. This is an award to tribute to people in New Hampshire who have truly carved their own place in New Hampshire.

According to the award presenters, Brooks Properties, Business NH Magazine, and LTD Company, this is award is to truly recognize people in New Hampshire who have made a difference in the lives of others in their community.

Donna Van Houten Rollins had a vision of opening a local community facility for people to express themselves freely and begin the healing process through pottery. Working a full time corporate business, she worked for three years building up an inventory nights and weekends in her home’s basement. In April of 2010 she opened Healing Touch Pottery in Hampstead, NH. In September of 2010 the studio moved into its expanded location in East Hampstead, NH. Healing through the Art of using a Potters Wheel

Touch is a basic human need. We are born with the instinct to reach out and touch. It is a universal action to touch, to feel, to experience. Touch allows for loving energy to be transmitted. Reaching out to touch activates the energies within the human body. The art of touch as a healing art has been practiced for thousands of years in nearly every culture.

Healing begins when you take a clump of moist clay and put it on the potter’s wheel. Your fingers slide across the clay as the wheel turns. As though something magical happens, the mind and the body begin to work in complete harmony with each other.

The forming of the clay allows your mind to focus upon a natural element of the Earth. A meditative state is entered as everything from the outside world is left aside. The stress and tension slip away. The forming of the clay upon the wheel releases everything that is negative and infuses through the simple art of touch a connection with the Earth.

Through the art of crafting a piece of pottery the imaginative and creative energies within you are unleashed and allowed to be expressed. There is something special and energizing about creating something from nothing.

The healing extends long after your time at the wheel. The experience can be relived each time the fired pottery is held. The infusion of energy, the grounding of the spirit, and the activation of creativity can be carried throughout your day.

Glass Beading Studio Classes April 2011 Calendar

April 5th: Intermediate Glass Beading Dots Galore & Shaping; 7:00:00 PM 8:00:00 PM. In this class you will learn how to shape your bead into the form of a heart. You will also attach dots in certain formations to create a flower effect. The class fee is $40

April 12th: Open Beading; 7:30:00 PM 9:30:00 PM. This is uninstructed time making glass beads. You are required to take the Introduction to Beading Class before you can participate in Open Studio Beading. The Fee is $25 per hour.

Arpil 19th: Intro Glass Beading Class; 6:30:00 PM 7:30:00 PM. You will learn how to make glass beads with map gas torches and glass rods. This class fee is $40.

April 21st: Glass Pendant; 7:00:00 PM 9:00:00 PM. You will learn how to make 2, standard sized, glass pendants. Some of the glass products used in this class are ribbons, frit and dichroic glass. Once you have taken this class, you may create pendants anytime in the studio. The fee is $30 for the two

April 26th: Open Beading; 7:30:00 PM 9:00:00 PM. This is uninstructed time making glass beads. You are required to take the Introduction to Beading Class before you can participate in Open Studio Beading. The Fee is $25 per hour.

Rose Quartz is favored by many people. And it's no wonder, because this pink quartz radiates love, comfort, compassion, well-being and a "dome of Love."

A number of years ago I was in relationship with a man who was extremely negative. It took me longer than I would have liked to realize it before I disengaged from that connection. I learned a lot during the process. The red flag should have gone up when he responded to something I said that was positive and loving about the world. His reaction in a very nasty tone was, "What's wrong with you? Do you live in a Dome of Love?" I responded in my joyful and sometimes child-like way, "Oh, yes! Would you like to step into the Dome for a while? It's quite nice in here."

He would have no part of the Dome of Love which also was a dome of Integrity, Truth, Impecability and much more. His vibration couldn't handle it. I always have hope for people which is why I hung on to that relationship for a while. I finally woke up to realize I deserved someone who already lived in their own dome of Love, Integrity, Truth . . . and so on.

Rose quartz is a good relationship stone. It's good for bringing more love into all types of relationships. We have many types of relationships; the relationship with yourself, platonic relationships, work/career relationships, parental relationships, sibling relationships, animal relationships, garden relationships - OK . . . we have a relationship with All That Is.

Take the time to contemplate Love and what the All That Is means to you.

Carnelian is orange agate. It’s a grounding stone which activates the navel chakra. The navel chakra is also known as the sacral chakra and is the place in the auric field where we develop our creative endeavors. Whether we are preparing to give birth to a child, a project, a meal, a beautiful garden, a piece of art work – or any other creation – the orange vibration located at this energy center is vital and flowing.

Healing Benefits of Pottery

Every person is creative. Healing is a creative and expressive process. Working with clay on the wheel can help explore a person's creativity while they become part of a family in a safe and loving studio that has experienced and gentle employees.

The wheel begins to spin. A lump of wet clay sits atop the wheel, your hands begin to form a mystical shape. The mind and body synergies with the clay and universal energy it holds. The mind begins to let the days stress wash away. No worries, no frustrations, and no distractions - only the clay that transforms in ways that leave you in awe.

Each line, each indentation a story of the creator. The longer the clay spins, the more relaxed and in tune the potter becomes. It is as though the clay some how magically draws out the energy signatures that cause stress, worry, or anxiety.

Each piece of pottery created is one of a kind and made by hand on the wheel or hand crafted. The clay is smooth to the touch. Touching and holding the pottery during the creation process (and after the firing) is part of the healing process. It should feel good to hold.

Working with clay on the pottery wheel can be a spiritual experience as a person connects with the clay. As the clay is transformed in a nearly mystical way, one can find the calming and soothing nature flowing through the quartz based clay. Donna from Healing Touch Pottery came to the Hampstead Public Library with a real pottery wheel and clay to teach Middle School aged youngsters how to use the equipment that professional potters use.

Everyone had a chance to make a clay creation and paint it just the way the pros do.

East Hampstead, NH, February 14, 2011: Healing Touch Pottery participated in Region 10’s Community Support Services, Inc. 14^th Annual Kids Carnival. Proceeds of the event benefit children and adults with developmental disabilities or acquired brain disorders in New Hampshire. Region 10 Community Support Services was established as a not for profit agency to respond to the critical need for local community resources for individuals who have developmental disabilities and their families. Region 10 stated, “Your generosity and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten” to Healing Touch Pottery. Donna Rollins, owner of Healing Touch Pottery, shares in the vision of providing a community support for all individuals and often works with various not for profit organizations in sharing the healing process that can be found through pottery. “The studio has become a community gathering place,” one recent visitor stated. Donna Rollins shared, “the growing of a community is part of the healing process and part of the mission of Healing Touch Pottery.”

How to Select A Gemstone

Have you ever seen a person wearing a necklace that draws your eyes to it? There’s much more to selecting a quality stone than the 5 C’s. Something deeper is involved. What is truly important is the vibrational energy force that is within each stone.

So how do you choose a stone? When choosing a stone that will be worn on your person, try to relax and breathe deeply to put yourself in touch with the stones energy. When you can sense the non-physical properties of the stone, it will have a direct impact on what you consciously believe about the stone.

Let’s look at a lesser known stone like the opal for example. Precious opal is a transparent to translucent color that changes colors to an iridescent rainbow. If the opal does not reflect any colors it may be dried out as opals are made up of large water content. Because of the water content it is a wonderful stone to connect as water transfer energy easily.

When holding the stone, allow it to fill you. Close your eyes and breathe deeply feeling the stone in your palm. It may become warm as you connect with the energy. Don’t be alarmed, this is a natural occurrence when two vibrations of energy connect. The most important thing is to hand select any stone following your intuition regardless of what any 5 C’s chart may tell you.

East Hampstead, NH, February 7, 2011: Owner and Potter, Donna Van Houten Rollins of Healing Touch Pottery unveiled Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the AGC Spring Expo in Orlando, FL a new patented signature series of healing mugs.

The mug designs combine multiple healing modularity’s and are created to work with the seven main chakra energy systems of the body. The pottery itself has multiple levels of healing energy that begins with quartz enhanced raw clay. Then various quartz, crystals and minerals are infused during the firing process of our hand crafted glazes. In continuation of energy power, gemstones and crystals are then attached to selected touch areas on the signature series pieces. Each piece is then inspected and Reiki charged.

The mug signature series has already been picked up by multiple distributors at the unveiling in Florida.

Reiki Explained

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient form of hands on healing originating in Japan. It is a transfer of positive energy from the healer to the person they are working on. It is thought that this transfer of energy can work with the body's natural ability to heal it's self. Reiki uses different techniques to restore and balance the life force energy within a persons body. It is believed to touch all three levels of a person; the body, mind, and spirit. The word itself means universal life energy and the basic premise of Reiki is to seek to restore the flow of energy within a person whose energy is unbalanced.

Does it work?

It depends on whom you ask. The art of Reiki is to have a person become deeply relaxed so that the vibrational energy flow within can be unblocked. Any physician will agree with the theory that deep relaxation or meditation will help anyone who is deeply stressed. Those that I have personally asked if Reiki works for them tell me that after each session they feel serene to radiating a joy from within.

Is Reiki the same thing as Spiritual Healing?

The two are similar as both use the laying on of hands to heal. There are major differences though. In Spiritual healing the healer is placing their hand directly onto the body of the person they are working on. In doing so, they are taking their own personal strong energy and releasing it into the person. In effect , the healer is doing all the work and participant is passive in the process only accepting the energy.

In Reiki, the practitioner is not placing their hands directly on the person in most cases. The healer is placing their hand above the person allowing the recipient to draw any energy that is needed. So the recipient is as actively involved in the process as the healer is. It allows the person to take responsibility for their own healing.

Atonement

In many cases a Reiki Master will suggest that a person go through a series of atonement's. This is where the healer will use ancient sounds and symbols during a session or series of sessions to attune a persons nervous system bringing it to a higher level of energy vibrations.

Long term use of Reiki can restore the body as energy channels are opened up allowing you to deal with stress and anxiety. The key to success with Reiki therapy is regular treatments. It will not cure you of your illness in one visit; however, long term practice will compliment any medical course of treatments that you are undertaking.

The Results

The benefits of whole body Reiki treatments that are undertaken on a regular basis is allowing your own body to become in tune with itself, thus reducing the stress and anxiety that faces each day. Whether you are a healthy person or one who is undertaking series medical treatments, the inward peace and harmony that the therapy bestows is priceless.

We are very excited to now offer glass beading. What better way to warm up in these winter months than to play with fire and glass. In this class you will use high temperature blow torches and glass stringers while learning how to melt and stretch glass and form it around mandrels to make unique and beautiful beads. There will be a large variety of colored glass to choose from. The studio will provide all supplies and tools to make a beaded bracelet. Please call the studio to pre-register. Class size is very limited. The fee is $80 and the length of the class is 2 to 2 1/2 hours long.
